The Viking Great Army and the Scandinavian settlement of England

November 7, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

6 sessions: Fridays, 13th January to February 10th; 10.30 to 12.30. At Berkeley House and on Zoom.

The activities of the Great Army between 865 and 878 are described in some detail in the Chronicles. Recently sites associated with the Army have been identified and excavated and a fuller, rather surprising, picture is beginning to emerge. We are seeing this Army and its leaders in a new light.  This course will explore the results of the latest research on the topic.

The Alfred Jewel – North Petherton, Somerset
