Events Search

Visits to archaeological sites and excavations spanning all periods and interests are organised during the months from March to October. The focus is on Devon but sometimes further afield. These vary from short evening visits to whole days, sometimes by coach. During 2019 the programme will concentrate on sites which are significant in the long history of the Society, to celebrate the 90th anniversary year

Visits are usually publicised in the Society Newsletters and here on the website, but may be organised at short notice, especially to visit excavations, and details are emailed to members. Visits are open to non-members.

The Hon Field Meetings Secretary is Denise Allen, and it is essential that you contact her beforehand to register interest or make a firm booking, as numbers are often critical for various reasons. Please email: Denise Allen; or telephone: 07903 887525.

Field Visit: Sherborne, Dorset

Sherborne

  Sherborne with John Allan – a look at the Abbey, almshouses, town and castle. Whole day event:  travel by coach, with pick-ups from Exeter bus station & Cullompton services (on request). Cost of coach: based on 20 travelling, approximately £19 per person.
