DAS holds a regular COFFEE MORNING, generally on the first Friday of each month, which enables members to get together at Berkeley House for discussion and access to the extensive DAS library. These events are proving to be increasingly popular and usually feature a guest speaker who gives an informal lecture or leads discussion on a topic of local archaeological interest.
The society holds an annual day of presentations entitled ‘ARCHAEOLOGY IN DEVON’, generally covering recent archaeological work carried out in Devon. This event takes place in late Spring/early Summer and in recent years has been held in the the magnificent surroundings of Council Chamber at County Hall, Topsham Road, Exeter.
From 2019, this event will be combined with the Society’s Annual General Meeting
A DAS/CAS JOINT SYMPOSIUM is organised every two years, alternately by this Society and ts counterpart in Cornwall. These are all-day events held in a location such as Tavistock or Launceston. They provide in-depth coverage of subjects on which significant research is currently being carried out in Devon and Cornwall.
OUTDOOR WORKING PARTIES – for the fit, these are mostly seasonal. Small task-forces visit, clear and maintain historic sites across the county.
DAS LIBRARY OPEN MORNINGS are held in Berkeley House, giving members access to the DAS Library for research and inspiration.
These events are all advertised in the DAS Newsletter, as are other one-off events
