Berkeley House, Exeter and on-line via Zoom

John Salvatore

PLEASE NOTE THE VENUE FOR ALL WINTER MEETINGS THIS YEAR IS BERKELEY HOUSE
John has completed a book on Roman Exeter for the Archaeopress Roman Britain series due to be published in 2024. He will present some of the research for the book including new work on Roman military period sites outside the fortress and, within the walls, both on the military period and the later Roman town. The contribution of the late Paul Bidwell to the study of Roman Exeter will also be discussed, in particular, his chapters in Exeter: a Place in Time, and his re-assessment of Fortress Ware pottery which led to a major re-interpretation of the St Loye’s College site on the Topsham Road.
