This will explore the use of medieval manorial records for investigating the local landscape, economy and society, including place names and personal names.

Sherborne with John Allan – a look at the Abbey, almshouses, town and castle.
Whole day event: travel by coach, with pick-ups from Exeter bus station & Cullompton services (on request).
Cost of coach: based on 20 travelling, approximately £19 per person.
Field Visit: Bampton Town and Motte
Guided tour from the Heritage Centre around the town.
After lunch a visit to the motte with Bob Higham.
Cost for guided tour £2.50 per person (proceeds to the Heritage Centre).
