Field Visit: Lydney Park Roman Temple & Kings Weston Roman Villa

June 3, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Field Visit: Lydney Park Roman Temple, Gloucestershire and Kings Weston Roman Villa, Bristol

Depart Exeter 09:00,  Return 17:00

Leaving Exeter Bus Station by coach at 09:00, travelling to Lydney Park Roman Temple.

Pick up at Cullompton Services if requested

Coach cost: based on 20 people travelling, the cost is expected to be approx £25 per person

Entry to the Park is £5.00 per person.

Bring a packed lunch.  There is a tea room at Lydney Park but it can sometimes be very busy.

A visit to the ruins will be led by Denise Allen, allowing time after to explore the gardens and have lunch.

The plan is to leave Lydney at 14:00 and travel to Kings Weston Roman Villa, via Blaise Castle to pick up keys. The villa was discovered in 1947 when a new housing estate was being built. There are some fine mosaics under cover in a site hut.

NB If departure from Lydney is delayed, this second part of the trip may be suspended.

Leave  Kings Weston around 15:30 to return to Exeter
